Nascar Former Drivers and Car Pictures

The photos / pictures in these galleries were taken by James Crabtree, a resident of Hillsborough, NC, who worked as a freelance photographer from 1975 to 1997.
In 1973, Mr. Crabtree was a crew member on a local LMS (now NBS) team that raced at South Boston Speedway. He bought a 35mm camera and started taking pictures of the team's car. Other teams saw his photos and asked him to take pictures of their cars. Soon thereafter, a couple of reporters from a local racing paper, Tri-State Speed Press out of College Park, MD asked him to take photos to use with their stories. In 1981, at Daytona, the photo editor of Grand National Scene (now NASCAR Winston Cup Scene) saw his work and asked him to freelance for them. When the photo editor became photo editor for Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1982, he asked Mr. Crabtree to work for them on race weekends. Mr. Crabtree worked for Speedway Scene until his retirement in 1997.
James "Tiny" Crabtree was a regular contributor to motorsports forums and especially to the NASCAR discussion groups, died Nov 16, 2004 due to complications from diabetes.
